Our fifth annual block party, held for the first time this year in the spring instead of the fall, drew the biggest crowd yet!  The weather was perfect and we didn’t have any conflicts with football games, hurricanes, or other events.   This year’s party featured both a bounce house and a face painter.  Next year we will add volleyball.  As always, the delicious food that everyone brought kept everyone well fed while our neighbors had a chance to meet one another and talk.  Everyone agreed – Observation Pointe is a GREAT place to live!  Stay tuned for the 2019 block party, to be held in the spring. Our fourth annual block party was a huge success — this year featuring a bounce house!  Surveys said our neighbors especially loved:

  • “The bounce house"

  • “Getting to know our neighbors"

  • “Fantastic food!"

  • “Games for kids"

  • "Meeting new neighbors”

  • "Different culture’s foods”

  • “Opportunity to meet my neighbors”

  •

Special thanks to neighbor Chandra Myrick for volunteering to take photos of the party and posting them on Nextdoor.  Special thanks also go out to Stacey Getz and the Party Planning Committee, volunteers from the neighborhood who want to ensure that Observation Pointe residents have at least one opportunity each year to meet and greet our neighbors in a festive, social setting.

We will hold our next block party in the Spring of 2018 to avoid conflicts with football games and hurricanes.  It is tentatively scheduled for March 24.  Keep your eye on Nextdoor for announcements about the 2018 Party Planning Committee.  Everyone is invited to participate in making our annual block party a huge success.

Over 95 family members attended our October block party, sampled international cuisine, and got to know their neighbors better.

THANK YOU to our volunteers who made it happen -- Stacey Getz, Maribeth Hudson, Aaron and Ashley Chern, Margaret Wright, O Ha Wang, Diane Dimonaco, Anntoinette MacInnes, Chandra Myrick (our photographer), and all of our neighbors who brought fantastic food for all to share!

Here are some comments from the party surveys:

  • "We loved meeting our neighbors!"

  • "We should do another party in the spring."

  • "Great party!"

  • "Lots of excitement. Loved the games and the face painting."

  • "Really enjoyed getting to know people."

  • "Great atmosphere. Great variety of food."

  • "Wonderful hospitality."

Many of our neighbors volunteered their time to clean up the entrance to Observation Pointe and the common area adjacent to JR Alford Greenway on Labor Day weekend following Hurricane Hermine.  With so many helpful hands on deck, the job was finised in less than hour!
